District-Wide Secure Vestibule Project
East Greenbush, New York
New Identity through New Secure Entrances
The single point-of-entry assessment and implementation project was part of a larger capital projects that also addressed modernizing cafeterias and kitchens, and technology and temperature controls across the district.
Secure entrance vestibules were added to three elementary schools, one middle school and the district’s high school. A holistic approach provides each school with its own identity while delivering a consistent palette of materials and a defined main entrance for visitors, staff, and students.
Existing conditions at each school were very different, requiring a unique solution to a uniform need. Some schools required small building additions to accommodate a vestibule, while others allowed for a seamless insertion of a secure vestibule into existing lobby space. In each case, the new secure vestibules and security booths provide modern buzz-in technology and clear visibility to approaching visitors and students, vehicular traffic and parking areas, and to building lobbies and entrances.
